Guardrails
Guardrails are safety mechanisms that keep AI agent behavior within defined boundaries. They encompass input validation, output filtering, action restrictions, and content policies — like highway barriers that keep the agent on the correct course without slowing it down.
Why does this matter?
Guardrails are indispensable for enterprise AI deployment. They prevent agents from disclosing confidential data, executing unauthorized actions, or generating inappropriate content. For regulated industries (finance, healthcare, law), guardrails are a compliance prerequisite.
How IJONIS uses this
We implement multi-layered guardrails: NeMo Guardrails or Guardrails AI for content filtering, Pydantic schemas for structural validation, and role-based permissions for action restrictions. Every guardrail violation is logged and can trigger escalations or automatic shutdowns.
